January 07 Mix

I have been a terrible blogger in 2007.  I have seen lots of shows, bought tickets to more, and have not written about any of it.  Next thing I know, this place is all about lobsters and cell phones. 

Just like lots of people, I listen to a lot of music.  The problem is, I do a bad job of keeping track of what I listen to.  Lots of times people ask me about new music and I don't really know what to tell them.  Sometimes, I only listen to old stuff and nothing new.  Other moments I only listen to new stuff.  It all really depends. 

So, a new feature on Floating Away - mix of the month.  A mix cd full of the tracks that have been keeping me busy in January.  Some new, some old, all great.  Lots of Destroyer and Amy Winehouse this month.  The new Arcade Fire, Menomena and Parson Red Heads has been getting lots of spins.  I still can't stop listening to Elvis and Ferraby.  My trip to New Orleans at the end of 06 got me listening to a whole lot of other stuff (Dr. John, Little Junior Parker, Fats Domino).
