Tomorrow is a big day. I am looking forward to seeing how all this stuff plays out on the national stage. Will the dems take control of the House? The Senate? Will the Republican base come out and foil every liberal's plan? Will people still go out and vote only to have the paperless voting machines be corrupt and be pre-programmed to do something else? We will have all of those answers Tuesday night.
Here in LA, we are alot of small decisions to make: 13 State Propositions, 3 City Measures and a whole lot of judges to elect. I am sure most of you will go out and Rock the Vote, and I thought I would share my thoughts. Feel free to use this as a guide or the other sources listed at the bottom of the post.
Arnold vs Phil
I feel so bad for Phil Angelides. The guy has absolutely no chance of winning. He really does seem like a good guy who would be a good governor. But alas, Arnold is untouchable. He can do no wrong and has the celebrity icon status to let him win any election.
Floating Away says: Phil Angelides
Oh, Term Limits
Most of the other state offices are life long California politicians seeking other offices due to term limit restrictions. That explains why the former Attorney General wants you to elect him to be State Treasurer and the former Lieutenant Governor is looking to be Insurance Commissioner.
Floating Away says: Pick a party and run with it. What every you do, don't vote for the crazy Tom McClintock.
State Propositions
1A - 1E:
This is a package of 5 propositions that will put more money into state infrastructure. Los Angeles will get some money for mass transit in 1B, more money for affordable housing in 1C, and an upgrade of schools and college buildings in 1D. 1E is all about fixing the very scary and old levee system in Northern California. 1A is all about the gasoline tax. Previously, the state would use it to balance the state budget. Voting yes on 1A will make it available for transportation projects only.
Floating Away says: Yes on all, even if it means that we won't see the fruits of our vote for many years down the road.
Prop 83:
Have you ever played around on Megan's Law. It is really fucked up. I can only imagine what the website will look like if this prop passes. Registered sex offenders would have to wear a GPS bracelet for the rest of their life and make them live far away from schools and parks. The flipside of that is it would most likely push all sex offenders to rural parts of the state where the local sherrif wouldn't really have the resources to deal with these guys. It also doesn't bar loitering near schools and parks.
Floating Away says: No. It's not a good bill.
Prop 84:
This is an easy one. Vote Yes and we get better, cleaner water, more parks, wildlife protection, and better flood control.
Foating Away says: Yes.
Prop 85:
Didn't we just vote no on this last year? Damn. Those republicans think we are so stupid. A woman under 18 who wants an abortion has to get her parent's permission.
Floating Away says: No.
Prop 86:
Who smokes anymore? You can't smoke in any restaurant or bar and if this passes, cigarettes will be $7 a pack! The downside is that only 10% of the new cigarette tax goes to anti-smoking law.
Floating Away says: Yes.
Prop 87:
So, there's a lot of oil in California, but the state gets no money for any of it. Vote yes and the state could raise $400 million over 10 years. Alaska charges 15%. Texas charges 4.6%. Bill Clinton says yes. But, those pesky commercials with firefighters, teachers and police officers say no.
Floating Away says: Yes.
Prop 88:
We have oil taxes and cigarette taxes, might as well throw in a parcel tax too. If you are a homeowner, if this passes you would pay $50 a year to go to reduced class sizes, school safety and textbooks. Who wouldn't want that? FYI, if every homeowner throws $50 bucks in a pot, thats about $450 million a year.
Floating Away says: Yes.
Prop 89:
Hurrah for clean money campaigns! It would tax corporate and banking taxes to raise $200 million for public campaigns. Wouldn't you like to see a campaign that is run without money from Hollywood or Silicon valley?
Floating Away says: Yes.
Prop 90:
Eminent domain is such a tricky thing. One hand, I think its imperative that government have the ability to build more schools and parks in very congested areas. On the other hand, people live there, so the government has to take their homes. Voting yes would make building parks and schools more costly.
Floating Away says: No.
City Measures
Measure H:
This is Eric Garcetti's baby. It would authorize $1 billion in bonds to build affordable housing.
Floating Away says: Yes.
Measure J:
What kind of evil person doesn't want a fire house built in Hollywood. Dalmation not included.
Floating Away says: Yes.
Measure R:
Remember way back at the beginning of this post where I talked about term limits? Here we go again, except this time, its to extend city council term seats. This would increase the two term city council seat from 2 terms to 3 terms. This is just a way for all the other council members to run for Mayor after Antonio goes after the governorship in 4 years.
Floating Away says: No.
Judges
Vote yes on all Supreme Court Justices and Court of Appeal Justices. Vote for Bob Henry, Daviann Mitchell, Hayden Zacky, Bobbi Tillmon, and David Stuart for Superior Court Judges.
Other Voting Guides:
LA Weekly
LA Times
California Democratic Party
League of Women Voters
I think you need a bit more of a story with this as this isn't really a news story in its current form. Perhaps you could write about why you like Michael so much?
will be happy to be proved wrong with this one.... but having done survival training during my Army days, I have to admit to a raised eyebrow with this as well.

In the end, I went to London with all the other students, but it was on our way back home, at the airport that I saw the man who bought my cap. It was Annabel’s boyfriend’s father. I said nothing to Annabel and left the airport with anger. She felt awful and wrote me a note: “Please don’t be mad at me. I just wanted you to be there. Sorry that you feel bad, but friends do think about each other.” It was a short note, http://www.gohatshop.combut I could tell how important our friendship is to me and to Annabel. I got back the DC shoes cap and since then, it has always been my favorite thing.http://www.gohatshop.com
Then, two days later, Annabel and her boyfriend offered me an excellent idea, suggesting that we could have an auction about my old stuff and maybe somebody might be interested and bought them. I thought that was a good idea, so without hesitation, we started. It didn’t go well as we thought, and nobody seemed to be so appalled by my old stuffs, except for the DC shoes hat, also the New Era Cap. A mid-aged man bought, offering a high price. There was a program of visiting London during our summer vacation in our high school, so lots of students signed for that program, so did I. As the big day was drawing near, I realized a big problem-I didn’t have enough money to cover this trip. My father’s company just got through a bankruptcy and I had never really paid any attention to our financial situation. So one week before the trip, I told my friend Annabel that I should probably not go due to financial problems. Without a second thought, she said that she could pay the expenses of my trip, which is within my expectation. But I refused: http://www.gohatshop.com“No, Annabel, I don’t want to accept your money. If I don’t want to go, then I won’t go.” Annabel clearly knows what kind of person I am so she didn’t force me to accept anything. What to Dress to Ball? – the Best Choicehttp://www.gohatshop.com

I guess that everybody has an item of small thing that represents the beautiful memory of their adolescent years, something of vital importance for you, but may seem to be nothing to others. The Sales of ds two are Claimed to Make a New Record This Year For example, my friend Annabel’s sweet memory of her youth is the poem written by Edgar Allan Poe, Annabel Lee. Classic M3 DSi are One of Most Luminous Mode for Spring 2010 Her first serous boyfriend won her heart by reciting this poem for her. And the special item for me is the DC shoes Hat. As they always are, NC shoes hats, DC shoes Caps are very popular among young people. I had another DC shoes cap, but nothing can be compared to this one.Hottest, Newest, Latest: For Ps3 Ps Break Manufacturers

Two and a half men seasons has more laughs per minute than any other sit com. I have not laughed as often or as intensely because of any TV show in decades. The casting and acting is superb and the writing creative and hilarious. If you don't laugh at this show, sell your television and see a doctor, because something ain't right. You can obtain it from http://www.collectcheaps.com .
